Rock ‘n’ Roll Is Gone For Good

Rocking and rolling was so absurd,
Guitars were so loud the words were never heard.
Oh, sweet melodies are once again the trend.
Let’s not go back to rocking and rolling again.

Good-bye Charles Berry, and all your kind,
You nearly drove us out of our mind.
No more bands disturbing the whole neighborhood,
Rocking and rolling is gone, yes it’s gone,
Rocking and rolling’s gone for good, it’s gone for good.

CHORUS
Rock ‘n’ roll is gone for good.
Didn’t last, we knew it never would.
Good-bye, good-bye rock ‘n’ roll.

Never had a melodic ring,
Half the singers couldn’t sing,
Three chords got awf’lly old,
Can’t see how that stuff sold.

CHORUS

So grab a guitar and start your gyrations,
Become an overnight sensation.
Now I know why this passing fad
Made all your moms and dads so mad.

CHORUS

No more rocking and rolling,
Rock ‘n’ roll, rock ‘n’ roll,
Rock ‘n’ rolling is gone for good.

Till Everyone Is Home

The beauty of life shines around you
Like the sun breaking through the storm that has been,
But sometimes you can’t see the rainbow
If you feel like a stranger on the outside looking in.

CHORUS
Till everyone is home, till everyone is home,
Till the last soul is fed
And there’s a roof above his head,
As long as there’s someone
Left out in the cold,
As long as there’s someone
Without a place to call his own,
How can there be peace,
How can we be free to lay down the load?
Yeah, we’re still on the road
Till everyone, till everyone is home.

I can see some flowers in the window
Of a tiny one-room shack crowded on a hill.
Nothing can hold down the power
Of the hope that keeps on growing
And you know it always will,

CHORUS

What Color Is God’s Skin?

“Good-night” I said to my little son
So tired out when the day was done.
Then he said as I tucked him in
“Tell me Daddy what color’s God’s skin?”

What color is God’s skin?
I said it’s black brown it’s yellow
It is red it is white.
Ev’ry man’s the same in the good Lord’s sight.”

He looked at me with his shining eyes
I knew I could tell no lies
When he said Daddy why do the diff’rent races fight
If we’re the same in the good Lord’s sight?”

What color is God’s skin?… etc.

Son that’s part of our suffering past
But the whole human family is learning at last
That the thing we missed on the road we trod
Is to walk as the daughters and the sons of God.”

What color is God’s skin?… etc.

We Are Many, We Are One

VERSE
We live on the Amazon, live on the Nile,
The Baltic shore and Pacific isle,
We built the Parthenon and Chinese Wall,
Seen armies conquer and empires fall.

We fought for our dignity, fought for our place,
There’s a different story in every face.
The book isn’t finished, it’s only begun,
And it’s starting to dawn like the morning sun.

CHORUS
We are many, we are one,
Brothers and sisters wherever you’re from.
We all dance to a different drum.
We are many, but we are one.

VERSE
We talk of the children, we talk of the rain,
Of wages and prices, and who won the game.
We’re rushing together like never before.
We were worlds apart, now were living next door.

CHORUS
We are many, we are one … etc.

BRIDGE
Someday, somewhere, we’ll discover
That we’ll have to take care of each other.

CHORUS
We are many, we are one … etc.

Up With People!

It happened just this morning, I was walking down the street,
The milkman and the postman and policeman I did meet.
There in ev’ry window and ev’ry single door,
I recognized people I’d never noticed before.

Up! Up with people!
You meet ‘em wherever you go,
Up! Up with People!
They’re the best kind of folks we know.
If more people were for people,
All people ev’rywhere,
There’d be a lot less people to worry about,
And a lot more people who care.

People from the south-land and people from the north,
Like a mighty army, I saw them coming forth.
‘Twas a great reunion, befitting of a king!
Then I realized people were more important than things.

Up! Up with people!… etc.

There’s Gonna Be Another Day

VERSE
Somewhere in the world a child is born
He starts to cry and he’s on his way.
Someone holds his tiny little form
And is heard to say, is heard to say:

CHORUS
There’s gonna be another day
And it’s not so far away.
There’s gonna be another spring,
There’ll always be another song to sing.
We’re gonna see,
There’s gonna be another day.

VERSE
When we come to a river that’s too wide,
We’ll build a bridge to the other shore.
When we come to a wall that’s too high
We’ll build a door, yeah, we’ll build a door.

CHORUS
There’s gonna be another day … etc.

Somewhere in the world a child is born
There’s gonna be another day.

Moon Rider

The painter tries to paint it the poet tries to say it
The philosopher tries to convey the meaning to your mind.
But here I am – a quarter million miles away
One human being – one human seeing it for the first time.

I can see the white of snow-capped mountains
The blues and turquoise of the oceans blend.
Australia and Asia coming round the corner
And I can’t tell where one country starts and the other one ends.

The sun is setting on the Pacific
They’re just getting up in Rome.
I don’t see the lights of my city
All I can see is home.

I saw the world without any borders
Without any fighting without any fear
So Captain give the order
We’re going to cross the next frontier.

I know this view won’t last forever
Soon I’ll be back to reality.
But isn’t it the way we perceive things
That makes them what they will be?

I see the world without any borders … etc.
