Our Denver Community

Up with People is proud to call Denver home – our world headquarters for more than 25 years!

Be a Host Family

Denver plays a very important role in the early stage of our cast members’ experiences as they spend their first four to six weeks with local families before embarking on their world tour. The Up with People Winter Staging and Orientation is coming up!

Currently, we are seeking host families for January 13 - February 24, 2020. There are two AND four week hosting options available. Similar to previous semesters, we are offering regional shuttle services to transport students to and from daily activities. Tentative shuttle stops for this upcoming Staging include Arvada, Boulder, Broomfield, Thornton, Parker, Highlands Ranch, and downtown Denver.

What else does being a host family entail? Learn more about being a host family!

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with Us

Up with People occasionally has volunteer opportunities in our world headquarters office here in Denver and at our special events. As opportunities arise, they will be listed here.

Denver Community Volunteer Opportunities

The Up with People staff and local alumni are very involved in volunteering in the local Denver community. Are you connected to an organization or a project with which we can help? Please let us know and we will list it here!

Denver Up with People Jr.

Up with People Jr. is an arts-based day camp experience for boys and girls, ages 8-11, that is focused on leadership, equality and cultural awareness, and culminates with a high energy Up with People style show.

VIE: Teachers + Counselors = Very Important Educators

We are looking for champions in local high schools and universities or colleges who are willing to educate their students about Up with People’s Gap Year and Study Abroad programs. Colorado students should be well-represented in future casts!

Performing arts teachers and school counselors who are aware of our application process, scholarship schedule, musical performances, community service projects, and international travel opportunities are able to present an amazing package to high school juniors, seniors, and graduates.

Receptions are held twice a year before the premiere performance of each cast, where VIE members will be entertained, learn more about our programs, and meet our Denver staff. Ongoing communications and partnerships are formed benefiting both the school and Up with People.

AARC - African American Recruitment Committee

We invite leaders from Denver's African American community to join this volunteer group to assist us in building awareness of the incredible opportunity of Up with People. Volunteers are needed to help connect young people to UWP and the grants we offer for local youth from the African American community.

Committee meetings cover important topics such as strategies for recruitment, fundraiser brainstorming, communications, and community outreach. Your participation will help us broaden our reach and expand awareness of this exciting educational opportunity for African American youth.
