As part of Up with People’s rich educational experience, we have a fantastic option for our touring cast members! Eligible participants are able to earn 12 academic credits (full-time equivalent) while traveling abroad with us through an established partnership with Florida Southern College (FSC).
Our academic partnership with FSC began in July 2012 and continues today. Florida Southern College is the oldest private college in Florida and is driven to prepare students through dynamic engaged learning to make a positive and consequential impact on society.
Academic courses are offered to complement our existing curriculum of experiential learning and educational workshops, making it possible for most Up with People participants to earn university credit.
UWP students have the option to enroll in three 4-credit courses during each semester they travel. After being notified of their acceptance into the Up with People program, cast members must opt-in and enroll in the academic program. This academic program is optional and not required for all cast members.
All coursework is instructed and assessed by FSC faculty, supported by UWP staff, and delivered through a blended model of classroom instruction and online learning. Transcripts are issued by FSC and are transferable to any accredited university on approval by the receiving institution. Enrollment at Florida Southern College is not a requirement for participation in Up with People’s Academic Credit Program.
Any US or international high school/tertiary studies student, Gap Year participant, college/university student, or post-graduate participant is eligible to enroll.
Students who wish to go abroad with UWP as their study abroad semester are encouraged to seek prior approval and follow all necessary guidelines through the international programs (study abroad) office at their home university.
Up with People offers an affordable, comprehensive, and unique way to explore the world. Programs begin in January and July of each year.
The program fee is $17,450 USD for one semester or $27,350 USD for two semesters/year option when the deposit is paid in advance. These fees cover a portion of the actual program cost, with the remainder funded by generous grants, gifts, and scholarships.
The optional academic program delivered in collaboration with Florida Southern College is an additional $950 USD per semester. This fee applies directly to the cost of enrollment and instruction.
